Sabrina is an Indonesian horror from director Rocky Soraya and is the next chapter in The Doll franchise, starring Sara Wijayantom, who has been part of the franchise from the start, Luna Maya who joined the franchise in the second film, and newcomer to the series Christian Sugiono (Rasa).
I am a Criminology professor in Canada but I've always had a passion for horror films. Over the years I've slowly begun incorporating my interest in the horror genre into my research. After years of saying I wanted to write more about horror I have finally decided to create my own blog where I can share some of my passion and insights into the films I love.

Sabrina merupakan film hantu Indonesia yang dirilis pada 12 Juli 2018, film ini dibintangi oleh Luna Maya, Christian Sugiono, Jeremy Thomas, dan Sara Wijayanto. Film ini merupakan lanjutan dari The Doll 2 yang sukses dan menjadi box office pada tahun 2017.
Pada hari ke-11 penayanganya di Indonesia film horor Sabrina sudah mendapatkan penonton sebanyak lebih dari 1 juta penonton, saat ini film tersebut sudah ditonton sebanyak 1.337.510 penonton Indonesia. Selain itu, film horor Sabrina juga ditayangkan di bioskop-bioskop luar negeri seperti Malaysia, Singapura, Thailand, Jepang, dan Brunei Darussalam.
It should be noted that Indonesia is currently producing a lot of interesting genre movies that Netflix is helping to push. Other Indonesian horror titles on the service include The Secret, May the Devil Take You, Kuntilanak, and The Third Eye, which Sabrina director Rocky Soraya made. Soraya also produced the Indonesian action and martial arts film Target, and the genre has exploded in recent years thanks to the popularity of The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2 (the only title mentioned here not currently streaming on Netflix). Netflix original The Night Comes for Us comes from the same team that choreographed the fight sequences in The Raid movies, and is therefore likely to provide a much better time than Sabrina.
We also had to learn to deal with the tension in the air that was very evident. We began visiting Altamira in 2015 and could see that Belo Monte was a topic of discussion everywhere we went, even when we sat down to eat in restaurants. We attended a town hall meeting where 15 indigenous peoples were represented, all opposed to the dam. I decided to drop the scene of a fictitious protest because there were so many real protests going on that we could have caused some real tumult. I think filming in the Amazon and communicating what goes on there is quite a challenge. But the fact that I was a foreigner made me feel safer than the Brazilian environmentalists, who suffered a lot of violence.
"There was no regrets at all. We also made this film in a difficult time. At that time, the new shooting licensing period was held again. So, the dedication of all the crew involved was great, I was very grateful and loved the film too," he continued.
The Nocta Red Marriage is a film adapted from a 1996 soap opera with the same title. According to Sabrina, working on an adaptation work will certainly have the potential to be compared to its original work.
"Incidentally, my first film was adapted. So I already know what people will see when comparing different medium adaptation works. So I actually in the end, we will not be able to satisfy everyone for sure," explained Sabrina.
While not anywhere close to resembling something good, Sabrina, the third film in The Doll franchise, is easily the best out of the three. The biggest improvement is the camerawork. There are shots that are actually interesting, and even though not all the shots work, there is at least more thought that goes into them than previously.
The acting is still terrible, the effects are still terrible, and the story is still terrible. But at least I wasn't ever truly bored, and the film managed to at least keep me engaged. Pretty terrible movie overall, but somehow better than the other two.
Lebih fun nonton The Doll 2 loh ketimbang ini, The Doll 2 itu bad dialogue tapi eksekusi horornya fun. Sabrina hanya pengulangan formula yang sama. Jenuh nontonnya. Entahlah di film ini gimana ceritanya boneka yang wujudnya serem bisa jadi best seller??
